1:1 ABA in a preschool-like setting


  • Our “Preschool Prep’ program is designed to provide intensive, 1:1 ABA in a Preschool-like setting, allowing the Behavior Technicians (BT) opportunities to work on social skills with Peers and to familiarize our learners with the classroom setting.

    • Class will be 4-5 children

    • each child will have a dedicated 1:1 Behavior Therapist

    • Sessions will be developmentally appropriate for each child

    • Using a play-based approach to teaching

  • Sessions will held at our facility at the Cubberley Community Center 4000 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto, CA 94303

    There is a Swedish climbing wall with a swing, a dramatic play area and a courtyard where we do outdoor and messy activities.  The campus includes a grass area and we are very close to the Magical Bridge Playground on Middlefield Rd.  There will be time and opportunities for outdoor activities.

  • Monday - Friday 9:00am - 12:00noon

  • Using the Early Start Denver Model, PRT and the Socially Savvy Checklist, our typical day will be structured similar to preschool with each child having a 1:1 Behavior Technician.

    • Greeting song

    • Activities to develop both gross motor and fine motor skills

    • Activities to promote awareness of and engagement with peers

    • Developmentally appropriate

    • Combines opportunities to practice group skills and individual skills

    • Will incorporate play and play skills

    • Encompasses principles of PRT to create student engagement

    Why this model?  Because it looks and feels like preschool so that the learners can more easily generalize the skills they learn here to a preschool or kindergarten.

    Why such a small class?  More students may overwhelm learners with sensory issues and fewer would not provide enough peers for group activities. 4-5 is typically the best balance.

    Is it preschool? Not officially, but the learners will not be able to tell difference!
